Jakarta-based Lo-fi Newcomer Recca Varg Releases “Clear Anarchist Elements”, out November 27th

ZETIZENS.ID – Jakarta based newcomer lo-fi indie pop musician Recca Varg launches a new single entitled “Clear Anarchist Elements”, out November 27th, 2025 via streaming platforms.

It is a part of a three-track Bandcamp EP entitled Days of a Young Hegelian; generally inspired by the unstable relationships that primary songwriter Recca Varg had gone through back in her late teens and early twenties, of which the fragile foundations of those unstable relationships were based on codependency, drugs, existential dread, and subversion against the banality of human existence.

Specifically, “Clear Anarchist Elements” is an English-Norwegian bilingual acoustic lo-fi track which was written from the perspective of an existentialist narrator struggling to find meanings of life, who later crosses paths with a Norwegian anarchist boyfriend with mutual hatred towards police brutality on the process.

The release of this track was meant to be a medium for Recca Varg herself to reflect on her past chaotic journey which she has successfully survived through, and to remind herself that she has outgrown those ordeals of being trapped in unstable, unhealthy relationships.

Now a generally healthier person in her late twenties trying to get by, Recca Varg hopes that the audiences listening to her music won’t have to go through the same things she did, nor will they encounter an unstable relationship driven by drugs and codependency that will leave them emotionally taxed and scarred for life.

When this track was born, as a testament to her first songwriting journey as Recca Varg, this track was partly inspired by the character Helge Ombo from the movie Mannen som elsket Yngve; who blatantly branded himself as “a communist with clear anarchist elements”. Nonetheless, nowadays she takes her newfound musical project as an artifact that symbolizes the testament of her moving past beyond her whirlwind days of chaos and storms; that of difficult breakups, that of psychedelic hazes at 3AM– no more portraying herself as a tragic heroine.

As stated by herself as a means of artist’s statement: Here life moves toward regeneration, between old forgotten graves. And here I remind myself: I am stepping on to 27 with a stable life, no longer a product of my old wounds; on to greater things and a reformative future of commune and love.
